Simon, Owner of Prokil Brighton and Hove

After a five-year stint as a branch manager, Simon decided to step up his career by becoming Prokil’s Franchise Partner in the Brighton and Hove area.

Can you tell us a little about your working background?

Unlike most of our Franchise Partners, Simon’s journey with us began as a branch manager. He served in this role from 2016 to 2021, until the previous owners decided to sell and saw Simon as the perfect fit to take the franchise over.

Simon had some reservations about taking on the challenge at first. However, as he delved into the details and got to know more about what it involved, he decided it was the right choice for him.

Why did you decide to become a Prokil Franchise Partner?

Simon decided to become a Franchise Partner for a variety of reasons, with the biggest being the flexibility that came with the role. He had a young family to look after, so having the freedom to structure his days in a way that suited their needs was ideal.

Becoming a Franchise Partner also meant he could say goodbye to worrying about customer demand. After spending five years at Prokil and watching it grow from a small business into one of the largest in Brighton and Sussex, he was well aware that customer demand was consistently reliable.

What kind of training did you receive?

Simon already had experience in the construction industry, but the training he received went the extra mile in boosting his skills. The programme provided an in-depth explanation of effective damp treatment methods, along with tailored support and guidance. This made it ideal for newcomers and experienced workers alike.

How did your journey with Prokil progress?

Since Simon took the reins in 2021, the franchise has evolved by leaps and bounds. It now has two new office staff members, one new surveyor, and six new technicians. Annual turnover has skyrocketed to over £650,000, double from what it was before Simon took charge. He attributes this success to the fantastic support of the Prokil franchise network.

Do you recommend becoming a Franchise Partner?

Simon says he has no regrets about becoming a Franchise Partner. He loves the freedom that comes with running his own business, and says the support, flexibility, and existing brand awareness make it a fantastic way to achieve financial security.

“It was the best thing I’ve ever done!” he enthuses.
